We have an exciting opportunity to join East Older Adult CMHT, part of Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust.
As a Medical Secretary you will be a member of the multidisciplinary team, providing a comprehensive secretarial service to the Consultant Psychiatrist and members of the medical team, assisting them in achieving their objectives and to liaise with all relevant and appropriate services.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of administrative and secretarial duties, which include the receipt of all correspondence, booking of new patient appointments, attendance at MDT weekly meetings, audio transcription, and text processing of clinical letters, reports, and other correspondence as required by the medical team.
To act as a focal point of contact and be responsible for the dissemination of information, messages, and inquiries for the medical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members, other health professionals, staff within the Trust, GP's, Social Workers, Service Users, Carers, and any other appropriate external agencies.

Person Specification
Training / Qualifications
* RSA II Typing/Text Processing plus significant relevant secretarial experience.
* Educated in English 'O' Level or GCSE equivalent.
* Amspar Diploma or equivalent qualification/experience.
* Medical Terminology Qualification.
* Experience of using RIO system.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
* Significant experience of Microsoft Office including databases, Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
* Knowledge of good practice and systems of work within the secretarial/PA field.
* Experience in working with people who suffer from Mental Health or other related problems.
SKILLS
* Excellent written and communication skills.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
* Experience of dealing with a range of disciplines and agencies.
PERSONAL QUALITIES
* Adaptability/flexibility and ability to cope with change.
* Reliable and self-motivated.
* To be empathic to clients' needs and communication barriers.
