The opportunity
As Senior Risk Manager, you will take responsibility for supporting the Director of Group Risk in the development and maintenance of the Group risk framework to help Openwork make strong risk-based decisions. You'll provide guidance and counsel to the Senior Management Team and Executive in the execution of their responsibilities and enhance the risk culture across the business. Providing independent oversight, assurance and challenge of risk management practices and control performance in the 1st line, this is a key role with impact from day one. This is a hybrid role, with 2 days per week in our Swindon office. The Benefits:

Key Accountabilities:
10. Producing risk assessments and reports for the Senior Management Team, Executive and Board Committees
11. Support the Group Risk Director in ensuring that the risk and control frameworks of the Group and its businesses are operating effectively
12. Build and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with stakeholders
13. Drive ownership and understanding of the benefits of risk management across the business
14. Innovate and develop new risk approaches, utilising industry and subject knowledge and contacts
15. Lead the production of risk assessments and opinions for key business decisions, change initiatives and strategic initiatives
16. Maintain the Group risk database, acting as lead administrator for user access and queries, and development of new functionality
17. Work with the business on maintaining risk and incident logs and escalating emerging issues as appropriate
18. Building and developing models to analyse and quantify the key risks facing the business
19. Assisting in managing the relationship with the outsourced internal audit function
What will you need to succeed?
20. Extensive experience working in risk or compliance in either a first line or second line capacity
21. Experience of working in a range of risk types (mixture of enterprise risk, operational risk categories or across financial, operational and compliance)
22. Experience in the financial services world would be preferred.
23. Preferable experience producing stress testing or in scenario analysis techniques
24. A strong understanding of risk management concepts and practical application
25. Knowledge of the financial services industry or similar service industry propositions
26. Awareness of a good range of products within the retail financial services sector
27. Understanding of the purpose and approach to the ICAAP process
28. Understanding of FCA regulatory policy and priorities
29. Excellent problem-solving skills and logical thinker
30. Well-developed communication skills to negotiate and influence internally with colleagues at all levels
31. A confident risk professional who is comfortable with working at all organisational levels and can command the respect of colleagues to demonstrate the benefits of risk management
32. Understanding the issues involved in running a business and the trade-off between risk and reward
33. Able to provide clear, pragmatic advice to other colleagues at all levels of the business
34. Effective business writing – keeping the complex simple
35. Ability to effectively assess priorities and deadlines
