Job Description Reporting to the Head of Business Sector, we are recruiting an Engineer who has overall responsibility for maintenance and repair of all machinery and electrical equipment (deck and engine) onboard the 24M Multicat workboat. Your Main Tasks: Ensure safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all propulsion, auxiliary and deck machinery, electrical appliances, air conditioning, domestic installations, fittings and structures, RIB and deck crane Consult at least daily with the Master to achieve the maximum economy consistent with the minimum efficiency required. Keeping the Master fully informed of any occurrences in the engine room or deck equipment which might affect navigation or the essential services under his or her control Ensure compliance with all relevant Oil and Environmental Pollution Prevention Legislation and to ensure that all responsible crew are familiar with Emergency Procedures, Contingency Plans and capable of operating all Safety and Pollution Prevention equipment and appliances Be familiar with details of vessel’s construction, machinery and operating characteristics and take overall responsibility for the configuration of the vessel and all systems and equipment Keep a careful account of all labour coming under jurisdiction so that contractors’ bills can be checked and to ensure suitable quality of workmanship Keep accurate records of bunkers, lubricating oils and water consumed. Ensure that all Planned Maintenance and both normal and emergency repair work is carried out. Ensuring that all work is planned for minimum disruption to the vessel’s overall programme and maximum reliability and availability of the plant To adhere to Company Rules and Procedures relating to the department, making sure that all staff are alerted to Company requirements particularly safety, on any relevant matters Make regular inspections of machinery and machinery spaces. Be responsible for the bunkering of the vessel and ensuring that the quantity and quality is as ordered Arranging all transfers of fuel/lubricant oil/ballast/fresh water, and checking plans with the Master prior to actioning Preparing all spare gear orders, spare gear inventory lists and ensure spares are adequate Keep all engine room records as required by the Company Return to Base Office any Company Reports and Forms agreed by the Company in timely manner. Deal with the administration and upkeep of Classification Society Survey requirements of both hull and machinery Responsible for the security of all watertight compartments. To give/receive an appropriate and detailed handover when joining/leaving a Company vessel To carry-out any other duties as may reasonably be requested by the Master or the Company Required Knowledge and Experience to make your mark as Marine Engineer: Essential Second Engineer SV ENG1 Sea Survival Course Basic Fire Fighting Desirable AEC2 Minimum and working towards above CoC may be acceptable Knowledge of and experience with the operation of all technical installations on board Good command of English (written and spoken) Knowledge of the applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulations Knowledge of the operational processes of the vessel, ICT Office applications and fleet management systems First Aid Mandatory NINA training Other essential requirements subject to UK security check (proof of UK residency) Full driving licence Current passport Chief Engineer Endorsement
