Senior Finance Specialist/Systems Accountant
Cape Town and Johannesburg
Description
Apex Group Ltd. is looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Finance Team as a systems accountant who will report directly to the Global Head of Financial Reporting & Systems. The successful candidate will play an important role in the maintenance and development of the group's financial and wider ERP platform and reporting capabilities, along with other similar duties as required. There is an expectation to work proactively, independently when required, and as part of a team.
Job Specification
1. You will be part of a team who support the finance business owner and the finance related activities of Apex's strategic ERP systems, primarily Workday, Salesforce, Xactly, and Kyriba.
2. Responsible for building and co-managing a team of business analysts.
3. Responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors of the ERP systems.
4. Responsible for identifying the application of ERP system changes to enhance business functionality, straight-through processing, and efficiency improvements.
5. Working with the internal Integration team to onboard new people and companies onto the ERP platforms.
6. Monitor external systems development road maps and recommend upgrade adoption and integration prioritization together with internal training requirements.
7. Responsible for managing ERP and related finance systems upgrade projects.
8. Responsible for managing all upgrade test procedures and coordination of relevant resources.
9. Responsible for producing and maintaining a full suite of test plan documentation.
10. Assist with ERP customization as required (working closely with IT).
11. Responsible for the management of period end routines including year-end.
12. Responsible for system integrity such as control account / sub-ledger & trial balance etc.
13. Ensure integrity of data used for management reporting (both source systems and reporting warehouses).
14. Support firm's accounting and reporting procedures and produce various regular and ad hoc data extractions / reports to supplement these processes.
15. Provision of second line support and troubleshooting / fixing systems related issues.
16. Working with relevant business process owners to coordinate resolutions for any user issues.
Skills Required
1. You will ideally have a professional accounting qualification (CA, ACCA or similar).
2. Minimum of 3 years experience in similar, relevant role(s).
3. Strong foundation in ERP platforms and maintenance together with data management/analytics.
4. Strong understanding of accounting under IFRS.
5. Strong self-starter, able to work independently and as part of an integrated team.
6. Clear organization skills and ability to articulate complex issues concisely.
7. Workday, Salesforce, PowerBI experience would be an advantage.
