Main activities:
Overview of the role
Activities to be carried out as part of the service:
* Supporting the construction of the two EPR on HPC by answering to requests coming from building and erection contractors on HVAC discipline.
* When answering to those site requests:
o Gathering all needed input data for the answer
o Assessing and listing the impacts of the site change on the HVAC, layout design and other contractors.
o Producing technical assessment and solution, with supporting justification:
1. Aeraulic calculation,
2. Anchor plates calculation,
3. System analysis,
4. Interfaces.
5. Update deliverables produced by the RD Back-Office if needed
o Liaising with design Back-Offices Design Team when needed.
o Liaising with Contractor performing Execution Design when needed:
1. Managing contractual request of change when needed,
2. Performing surveillance on execution designer deliverables related to site request.
o Opening the dedicated change process to launch the implementation of the impacts.
* Reporting to the HVAC Discipline Lead and HVAC NI Lead achievements, progresses and difficulties and raising alerts on any aspects of the design when identified.
* Contributing to the closure of design open points after the delivery of HVAC design packages to site.
* Anticipating and raising alerts on open technical points.
* Collecting and organizing the lessons learnt.
* Being part of the HVAC team, participating to Team meetings, sharing technical topics.
Activities will be done on site.
As part of HPC project, the Engineer will belong to a multi-disciplinary and multicultural environment, stick to the project ways of working with high expectation on delivery time, schedule, safety and nuclear safety.
Requirements:
Essential
* Qualified to Degree Level and several years of experience in HVAC
* Good knowledge of 2D and 3D design software (AutoCAD, Navisworks).
* Good knowledge and understanding of general HVAC layout rules for an industrial project.
* Knowledge of the general operation of nuclear power station and the associated safety aspects (in particular, aspects relating to nuclear safety, flooding, fire, radiological protection, high energy line ruptures, etc.);
* Experience on 3D model visualisation for layout analysis.
* Microsoft Office.
* Fluent in English.
Desirable
* Experience in HVAC design or installation,
* Experience of UK design context and regulatory processes.
* Experience in previous EPR or other nuclear projects.
* The engineer should possess good interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
* The engineer is able to have a strategic view on the decisions they will take, manage a multiplicity of interfaces, summarise their work, be proactive, and meet commitments and deadlines. The engineer will be required to write clearly expressed and well-presented technical documents in English and apply logical thinking.
