Systems Engineer Location: Horsham Purpose of the role: This position is part of the Systems Engineering Department, which focuses on supporting core technology development at the component and stack levels, showcasing system-level technology, advancing and leveraging system intellectual property (IP), and collaborating with partners to industrialise product systems. Systems Engineers contribute to both internal and customer-facing projects, taking responsibility for defining requirements and developing verification plans for our stacks and systems. Their work spans various aspects of our system design, from individual components to complete system architectures. Additionally, they support the integration and deployment of these systems into industrial settings. Key Accountabilities: Work with global partners to understand key drivers, requirements and specifications for our Systems. Technical leadership of tasks and work packages. Development of system architectures to meet customer product requirements. Engage with discipline heads, senior engineers, and project management to support requirements, interfaces, verification and validation. Use of risk mitigation tools such as FMEAs to track and communicate project risk. Support verification and validation plans for systems and subsystems including test planning, execution and data analysis. Support new process design, including component specification and selection, process calculations, mass and energy balance diagrams, application of industry standards and supporting HAZOP studies. Provide support to product project teams, resolve technical issues and communicate and document solutions. Support issue resolution and documentation activities and outcomes. Develop and use models to simulate product and system behaviour to support design and verification. Provide plans and estimates for systems engineering activities. Awareness of IP space, creating and supporting new IP generation. Apply and understand systems engineering processes and procedures. Knowledge and skills required for the role: BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng in Engineering discipline or similar Awareness of basic chemical reactions occurring within our products water electrolysis process Awareness of thermo-fluids fundamentals Interpretation of test results, with understanding of measurement techniques, data acquisition and investigation Experience in developing and verifying system designs, using combination of virtual and physical test methods. Awareness of control complexities, in particular the impact on system design Creative problem solving, individually and as part of a team. Awareness with problem resolution tools and techniques (e.g. Root Cause Analysis, 8D) Awareness in verification and validation definition and planning Desired: Awareness of fundamentals of mechanical design, control & electrical/electronic systems Experience in requirements elicitation and management, and use of commercial requirements management tools Awareness of components for fluid transport, processing, conditioning and storage and related sensors / actuators Experience with risk management tools (e.g. FMEA) In return we offer a fantastic working environment and a comprehensive benefits package.
