Hays are recruiting a Finance Business Partner for a local council. This role involves working alongside the Head of Financial Business Partnering to ensure effective financial management of services, providing financial advice, and supporting the achievement of Corporate Plan objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Management Responsibilities:
1. Take ownership of management responsibilities within the service area.
2. Deliver the objectives and priorities of the Council through engagement, consultation, and negotiation with all stakeholders
Utilise highly developed skills of persuasion.
Professional Development:
3. Maintain and develop professional knowledge, skills, and experience.
4. Enhance service delivery and support colleagues within the service area and Council-wide.
Legislation and Principles:
5. Have a detailed understanding of relevant legislation and the underlying concepts and principles of Local Government Finance.
Leadership Support:
6. Support the Head of Financial Business Partnering in the motivational leadership of teams.
7. Ensure clarity of direction, effective communication, and the development of employees' full potential.
8. Deputise for the Head of Financial Business Partnering where appropriate.
Financial Planning and Budgeting:
9. Work closely with the Head of Financial Business Partnering to lead the financial planning and budget-setting process for the services within the remit of the role.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting the Council's change and transformation activities by providing strategic financial advice and guidance and offering innovative and creative solutions. They will also be responsible for coordinating the annual budget setting and closure of accounts processes.
