As an SEN Teacher, you will provide tailored, high-quality teaching to students with a range of special educational needs, ensuring they can access and succeed in their English studies despite their health challenges. The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching English at GCSE and A-Level and a passion for supporting students with additional learning needs in a unique, supportive environment. Key Responsibilities: Teach English to GCSE and A-Level students with special educational needs in a hospital school setting, adapting lessons to suit individual learning requirements. Design and implement personalized learning plans to ensure students are supported in reaching their academic goals in English Language and Literature. Develop differentiated teaching resources to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including those with learning disabilities, communication difficulties, and other SEND. Provide individualized support to students, guiding them through their studies and assessments, ensuring their needs are met and helping them to achieve their potential. Collaborate with the school’s multidisciplinary team (medical staff, social workers, and teaching assistants) to ensure students receive holistic support in both their education and well-being. Monitor and track student progress, providing regular updates to parents, carers, and relevant professionals. Create a safe, inclusive learning environment, encouraging student participation and building confidence. Support students with exam preparation and ensure they are well-prepared for their GCSE and A-Level assessments. Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong background in teaching English at GCSE and A-Level. Experience working with students with special educational needs and a solid understanding of differentiated teaching practices. Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual students, building effective relationships in a healthcare setting. Ability to work collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals, ensuring a holistic approach to supporting students’ needs. Patience, empathy, and the ability to create a nurturing environment for students facing physical and emotional challenges. Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, including lesson planning, assessment, and student progress tracking. Desirable Skills: Previous experience working in a hospital school or a healthcare education setting. Knowledge of SEND regulations and strategies for supporting students with medical needs.
