METRO is an international specialist in food and wine wholesale, partnering with many small and mid-sized independent companies to elevate the food and hospitality sector to a new level and take advantage of the unique opportunities presented by the comprehensive digitization of the industry.
The group is headed by METRO AG, which acts as the central management holding company, performing group management functions, particularly in finance, controlling, legal, and compliance.

THE ROLE
The Wineservice Director will be responsible for all activities relating to the business, including operational performance, portfolio and range development, profit and loss, marketing/brand development, culture, and leadership of the Grapevine team. The successful candidate will have total accountability for achieving a mutually agreed financial budget and will report to the Managing Director and the wider board of Caterite Food and Wineservice Limited.
We are recruiting for this position to drive Grapevine's long-term sustainable growth while developing, executing, and continuously adapting to support the wider METRO strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Delivering the agreed financial budget.
* Sales, purchasing, and commercial maintenance and development.
* Profit and loss accountability.
* Leadership and culture development.
* Training and education initiatives.
* Maintaining communication with the Caterite Food and Wineservice management board.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
* 5+ years of running a successful wine/drinks business or operating at a senior/director level within a national distributor.
* Willingness and ability to be hands-on with all levels of the division.
* Expert level of product knowledge, supply chain, and logistics.
* High energy levels and the ability to inspire and develop the existing team.
* Ownership of actions and responsible decision-making.
* Ability to collaborate with the wider company for the benefit of Caterite Food and Wineservice Limited.
* Able to implement and embrace our business transformation agenda.
* The successful candidate will be expected to live within a commutable distance to our distribution facilities.
SALARY & BENEFITS
* £60,000 per annum.
* Additional £15k performance-related bonus.
* Company pension contribution scheme.
* 48 hours per week. A full-time, permanent position.
