Health and Safety Manager required to join a leading structural steelwork contractor that ensure the highest standards of health, safety, quality and environmental management.
The role is divided between the company's head office in Halifax and project sites across the country.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Health and Safety Manager will:
Prepare and review safe systems of work, including creating risk assessments for production and on-site activities, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Supervise and collaborate with the Quality Engineer, who handles quality systems.
Conduct Health and Safety audits, surveillance inspections and lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-miss events.
Manage and oversee pre-qualification processes.
Audit and pre-qualify subcontractors and suppliers.
Produce detailed reports on near-misses and minor accidents, fostering continuous improvement.
Develop and maintain employee training and record-keeping on health and safety matters.
Qualifications
Ideally holding or working towards CMIOSH status.
Experience:
Considerable experience in Health and Safety roles within the construction industry.
Experience with steelworks or similar fields (e.g. cladding) is preferred but not essential.
Auditing experience with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 (system updates required, but full writing of systems is not essential).
The company are offering £60k - £75k depending on qualifications and experience, plus company bonus
