About the Role
Central England Academy Trust's BRAND-NEW school, Higham Lane North Academy, is delighted to welcome applications for the post of Teacher of Art and Design Technology / Curriculum Leader for Year 7 Art and Design Technology for a September 2025 start.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and highly effective individuals. The successful candidate will take lead responsibility for providing leadership to secure high-quality teaching and subject knowledge of Art and Design Technology.
General Duties and Responsibilities
1. Pupils will be taught for 3 hours of Art and 3 hours of Design Technology per fortnight in Years 7 and 8 in mixed ability groups.
2. Pupils will be taught an ambitious, carefully planned and sequenced knowledge curriculum, initially based on the curriculum model of our outstanding sister school, Higham Lane. The use of knowledge booklets, regular quizzing, and knowledge organisers will be key features.
3. We strongly welcome Art or Design Technology specialists to apply. For Year 7 Design Technology, you will benefit from strong support from our Trust. By Year 8, an additional teacher will join the team, allowing for more specialization.
4. There will be a strong commitment to reading and literacy throughout the school, where all teachers are integral. This includes morning reading with tutors, participation in our Accelerated Reading scheme, and various reading interventions for less-able readers. As a form tutor, you will also support pupils’ numeracy skills through weekly activities.
5. The successful candidate will utilize spacious Art and Design Technology classrooms equipped with IT facilities and a Visualiser, ensuring all children make outstanding progress.
6. Super-curricular activities are vital for our curriculum, providing pupils opportunities to develop their cultural capital. In your application, please include what you can offer your department/school.

Please be aware that this role is at Central England Academy Trust's brand-new secondary school, Higham Lane North Academy, opening in September 2025.
Higham Lane North Academy will open with up to five forms of entry (150 places) in Year 7 and will grow to a 920-pupil school. The school will include a Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) with up to 20 places available by 2030.
