The post-holder will share responsibility with the existing consultant staff to: Participate in the administration and development of neonatal intensive care at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital as well as the Postnatal Ward with the service director and consultant colleagues. Carry out up to 4 neonatal out-patient clinics in each 7 week cycle (in weeks SCBU and PNW). These are joint clinics. There is a very well organised, fully comprehensive paediatric outpatient department. One tier 1 and one tier 2 grade trainee are in attendance but essentially for teaching purposes. Clinically supervise and train junior medical staff in the care of sick babies on the Neonatal Unit and in resuscitation of babies on the Labour Ward and in Theatre when on service. Share educational supervision, mentorship and induction of junior doctors. Offer advice to junior doctors, nurses, midwives, AHPs and referring paediatricians Support the neonatal surgical service and further strengthen the links with the paediatric surgeons. Advise local general practitioners and midwives in matters relating to infant care and provide teaching as required. Undertake in-hospital training/teaching of medical staff, nursing staff and midwifery staff. Support child psychology and social services staff in the weekly Family Matters Meeting and support discharge planning with the neonatal community liaison team and 7 day outreach neonatal community service.
