First Class Supply have a number of short-term and long-term opportunities available within the Northumberland area for Teaching Assistants who have experience of working with children on the autistic spectrum.
You will be working on a one-to-one basis where you will be assisting in the educational and social development of the pupil under the direction and guidance of the classroom teacher; assisting in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes for pupils to help monitor their progress; provide support for the students inside and outside the classroom environment to enable them to fully participate in activities; assisting class teachers with maintaining student records i.e. reading logs, homework diaries etc.
The successful applicants will:
- Have experience of supporting pupils with autism
- Have knowledge of supporting through lessons to help development
- Have a proven track record of working on a 1-1 basis
- Be familiar with education, health and care plan (EHCP) formulation.
- Have knowledge of the national curriculum
- Have excellent communication skills with parents and outside agencies
