We are currently looking for a Band 6 RNMH / RGN to work on a Bank agreement for our Eating Disorders team in Rosanne House, Welwyn. All applicants must have previous experience in Eating Disorders.
The post holder will work in close collaboration with other professionals, including the wider multi-disciplinary CEDS team (MDT) in assessing service user's needs, devising care plans and evaluating outcomes that promote service user empowerment and recovery. The post holder, with the MDT will provide high quality, individualised and evidence-based eating disorder care and treatment, which addresses the needs of the service users and their families and meets individual specialist health needs.
Main duties of the job
The role will:
1. Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of high quality specialist care for people with moderate to severe eating disorders.
2. Undertake training in phlebotomy in order to monitor the physical health of people with severe eating disorders under the guidance of the Consultant Psychiatrist.
3. Manage high levels of risk in the community in partnership with the consultant psychiatrists and senior support workers, promoting service user recovery as well as safety whenever possible.
4. Learn to use the NICE recommended interventions for eating disorders such as SSCM (Specialist Supportive Clinical Management), CBT or CBTE, MANTRA (the Maudsley Model of Treatment for Anorexia) as well as motivational, DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) and other appropriate clinical interventions.
5. Be responsible for liaising with the GP practices in the quadrant for which the nurse is responsible.
6. Be required to teach other nursing and non-nursing personnel.
7. Be a role model through their own good practice.
8. Be responsible for maintaining clinical standards, and team systems under the direction of the Team Leader and Professional Lead.
9. Assist the team in maintaining effective team working processes, including outcome measures.
10. Be expected to deputise for the Team Leader in their absence.

1. Will function as a lead professional / care co-ordinator to a caseload of people with moderate to severe eating disorders and associated complex health needs as allocated, taking responsibility for formulation of appropriate care plans.
2. Will act as a clinical expert in their service area. This means keeping clinically up to date, being able to assess service users thoroughly, plan care rigorously, and audit and evaluate nursing and NICE recommended therapeutic interventions based on evidence and locally agreed protocols and policies.
3. Will co-ordinate all co-workers assigned to his/her service user group and will ensure they are fully conversant with all aspects of the service users care and treatment.
4. Will identify the individual care needs of allocated service users, plan, implement and evaluate all care programmes in conjunction with the services nursing team and the MDT.
5. Provide effective professional support of support workers within the service.
6. Provide mentorship and support for student nurses on placement in the service.
7. Provide nursing care in a person-centred way that promotes and facilitates the positive health and well-being of people with eating disorders.
8. Maintain close liaison with all department/staff involved in a service user's care and report on progress and effectiveness to the MDT.
9. Will lead and/or participate in reviews within community and inpatient settings/services and will prepare reports on service users as required.
10. Will be aware of all policy documents and legal requirements pertinent to the post and ensure that these are adhered to.
11. Will demonstrate and serve as an example for all clinical activities to appropriate grades of staff.
12. Will be fully conversant and ensure compliance with NMC codes of conduct and practice, relevant legislation and policies and procedures.
13. The post holder is required to maintain current registration with the NMC.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

* Eating Disorders Experience
* RMN or DipHE in Mental Health OR RGN/RNLD/RM/RSCN or DipHE in nursing with experience or training in mental health interventions that can be transferable to the eating disorders service work.
* Current registration with NMC.
