About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Knowledge Solutions Digital Publishing Services team.
The Citizen Developer is responsible for developing and implementing business solutions using applications or automations using low code tools such as Microsoft's Power Platform to enhance operational efficiency and empower non-technical users to create their own applications.
The role involves identifying business needs, designing low-code/no-code solutions, and collaborating with various departments to promote a culture of innovation and self-service development. The Citizen Developer plays a critical role in driving digital transformation and democratizing application development across the organization.
Responsibilities:
Solution Development and Implementation
1. Identify and assess business problems and opportunities for developing custom solutions using low/no-code solutions such as Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI.
2. Design, develop, and deploy low-code/no-code applications and workflows to meet business requirements.
3. Ensure solutions are user-friendly, scalable, and maintainable.
Collaboration and Support
1. Work closely with business units to gather requirements and understand their needs.
2. Provide training and support to non-technical users on the Power Platform to enable self-service development.
3. Collaborate with IT and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational standards and policies.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
1. Promote the use of the Power Platform to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
2. Stay updated with the latest features and best practices of the Power Platform to leverage new capabilities.
3. Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend innovative solutions.
Governance and Best Practices
1. Align to guidelines and best practices for citizen development within the organization.
2. Ensure that all solutions comply with security, compliance, and data governance policies.
3. Develop and maintain documentation for developed solutions and processes.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
1. Monitor the performance and usage of developed solutions to ensure they meet business needs.
2. Gather feedback from users and make necessary enhancements to improve functionality and user experience.
3. Prepare and present reports on the impact and benefits of citizen-developed solutions to management.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
1. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft's Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI.
2. Experience in identifying business problems and developing technology-based solutions.
3. Understanding of basic principles of application development and workflow automation.
4. Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools.
5. Basic certification or coursework in Microsoft's Power Platform or related technologies.
6. Basic project management skills.
7. Proficiency in using data visualization tools.
8. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent is ideal.
9. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and understand business processes.
10. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with non-technical users.
11. Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments.
12. Proficiency in creating user-friendly applications and workflows.
13. Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
