Long-Term teachers are working with a fantastic multi academy trust based in Salisbury, who are seeking a passionate, confident teaching assistant to join them in their resource base. The school is a mainstream environment; however, they have opened up a resource base to support a small number of students with SEN.
About the school:
Based in the lovely Wiltshire town of Salisbury, the school supports students from early years to year 6, providing a nurturing environment and celebrating students' successes no matter how big or small.
The school wants to ensure their employees feel valued and supported, so regular training will be provided.
Benefits:
* Free on-site parking
* Excellent pension scheme
* Carefirst – impartial counselling service in person, by video call or phone, as well as a citizen’s advice function for personal or professional queries.
About the role:
There are up to 10 students placed in the resource base, allowing you to develop a rapport with each student and become a positive role model and mentor. A class teacher will plan, deliver, and mark lessons; however, you will offer support with activity preparation and have the opportunity to implement your creative side when devising activities. You will also be responsible for leading small group interventions and 1:1 sessions, which means it is paramount that you are confident, assertive, and patient to manage the environment.
The key needs of the students include learning, social, emotional, and mental health needs, in addition to challenging behaviour. It is essential that you have previously supported these needs to ensure you can assess how to support them effectively.
This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday term time only, between the hours of 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. Commencing as soon as possible, you will be employed by the school, contracted to work 38 weeks per year.
