Following significant organisational change & the establishment of a new Executive Leadership structure, we are looking for a Patient Safety & Risk Lead to join the Senior Operational Team.
As the Patient Safety & Risk Lead, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our patient safety agenda. You will lead the delivery of a robust patient safety & risk function, ensuring that BPAS continues to meet & exceed national & regulatory standards.
You will be responsible for the management & oversight of clinical risk, the investigation of incidents, & the implementation of effective safety monitoring systems. This includes managing our incident reporting framework, producing detailed analytical reports, & ensuring that learning from patient safety incidents is integrated into service improvements.
You will collaborate with senior clinical & operational leaders to ensure the highest standards of patient care & safety are upheld across all BPAS services. This role will also see you managing the Clinical Quality & Risk Team, providing leadership and direction to ensure the effective execution of BPAS's safety & risk strategies.
Working from home with travel required to our Head Office in Leamington Spa & BPAS units when required. This is for 36 hours per week over Monday to Friday.
Main duties of the job
1. Deliver clinically informed analyses of patient safety issues
2. Oversee the line management of the Clinical Quality and Risk team
3. Contributeclinical and analytical expertise to all aspects of patient safety and riskintelligence, including developing the skills of colleagues
4. Workwith colleagues across BPAS to ensure intelligence and information on thesafety of services and any emerging patient safety issues are used as the basisfor wider patient safety improvement initiatives, advice and guidance
5. Leading the identification, development, implementation and management ofthe organisations risk strategies and policies
6. Ensure compliance with national, regional, and localpolicy requirements and adherence to reporting deadlines
7. Produce and present assurance reports to relevantBoard sub-committees, summarising issues, analysing trends, and interpretingdata
About You
We're looking for a registered health professional registered with the NMC or HCPC, with extensive experience in patient safety, clinical governance, and incident management. You'll have strong leadership skills, demonstrated through managing teams & delivering complex safety & risk strategies. Experience in conducting incident investigations, including Root Cause Analysis, & a deep understanding of national safety standards is essential. You'll possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to influence and guide senior leaders, as well as the ability to embed learning from incidents into practice.

17. Significant Specialist knowledge within the past years of patient safety, incident management, Root Cause Analysis, Risk Management, NPSA, CQC
18. Knowledge of the requirement of the LePSE reporting systems is essential in reporting to Committees of the Board, & Commissioners
19. Knowledge of the Patient Safety Incident reporting framework including AAR, SWARMs.

20. Proven experience of writing comprehensive accurate reports for Board and Senior Level Committees
21. Knowledge of Human factors methodology and its application in clinical practice
