Job Description To inspect, maintain and repair all vehicles or items of plant presented to required professional standards. Ensuring that legal compliance is above the minimum standard allowed. To provide an MOT and taxi testing service. Participate in maximising workshop efficiency and productivity. Undertake continuous training & development in new & emerging low carbon vehicle technologies such as electric and hydrogen powertrains. Requirements Conduct Fleet asset inspections, preventative maintenance and servicing in accordance with Moray Council and Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) policies and procedures. To investigate, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical defects on all Moray Council vehicles, plant and related ancillary equipment, replacing parts as and when necessary in line with Council and legislative requirements. Conduct Taxi compliance checks in accordance with Moray Council Legal Services schedule of conditions. Conduct DVSA MOT Inspections. Complete all relevant paperwork and documentation to the required standard. Provide on the job training for other Technicians or Apprentices as required. Compliance with H&S at work ACT 1974. The Individual Basic ICT experience. Extensive experience of vehicle maintenance functions preferably in a large fleet environment with detailed knowledge of maintenance policies and Goods Vehicle Operators Licence legislation. Experience and understanding of how quality impacts upon service delivery. Welding and fabrication “Time served” vehicle technician on HGV/ Plant & Light Commercial Vehicles (Motor Vehicle Technician Level 3 modern apprenticeship in Vehicle Maintenance. SVQ3 Heavy Vehicle maintenance and repair SCQF Level 7 or equivalent i.e. City & Guilds, SCOTVEC etc.) VOSA MOT Testing certificate class 4 Must have current driving licence to include C entitlement. Moray Council will assess driving skills periodically and the post holder will be expected to pass assessments to the required standard. Full driving licence required for testing vehicles category C minimum Driver CPC or equivalent professional qualification. Hybrid & EV Level EV2. 2 and EV3 training Demonstrable ability to work accurately in relation to collection of fees, issuing receipts, completion of documentation. Proven ability to work as part of an effective team. Demonstrable understanding and experience of working within Health & Safety parameters. Demonstrate commitment to quality in all aspects of service delivery. Ability to communicate effectively, technical and non-technical information both verbally and in writing. Ability to work without supervision and prioritise workloads. Ability to use initiative and creativity in developing new ideas and resolving issues/problems. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines and to work as part of a team as well as individually. Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions. Proven problem solving skills involved with finding and diagnosing faults in vehicles. Ability to use different communication styles and methods, appropriate to the situation Evidence of continual professional development. Ability to participate on a standby rota. Ability to work outside in arduous conditions whilst conducting vehicle repairs or recovery.
