Teacher of Design and Technology (Food)
Part Time (16.75 hours per week) or Full Time hours available
Permanent Position
M1 - UPS3: £31,650 - £49,084 pro rata
Required from September 2025
The Kimberley School is a rewarding and exciting place to work. Our aim is for every child to achieve or surpass their academic and social potential and we achieve this through providing an outstanding quality of education, underpinned by a strong programme of care, guidance, support and enrichment.
We are looking for a candidate to join our forward-thinking Design and Technology department. We encourage applications from all Design and Technology specialisms, however the ability to teach primarily Food Technology would be desirable.
The successful candidate will be based in our superbly-resourced DT department, joining a dedicated team of professionals who oversee excellent outcomes for students. The team contains multiple TLR holders, as well as two full-time technicians, who work closely together to ensure cohesion in delivering a high-quality curriculum. Our classrooms are productive, purposeful places, full of highly-engaged students. The ongoing success of the departmental approach is demonstrated in regularly high numbers of students selecting Resistant Materials, Graphics, Textiles and Food GCSE courses; this trend is increasingly replicated in Key Stage 5. The department has also forged strong links with partner schools in the East Midlands Education Trust, presenting further opportunities for CPD and progression, as well as enhancing teaching and learning through the sharing of best practice across schools. We actively encourage interested candidates to visit us and see more of what we do in person.
The advertised post is part time and we require someone on a 0.6 full time equivalent (fte) contract for teaching Design and Technology. However, we will consider applications from candidates who are looking for anything above 0.6 fte, if they are willing to teach outside of this specialist area. We will also consider applications from candidates looking for a full-time post if, again, they are willing to and have the capability, to teach outside of the subject area. This post is suitable for experienced candidates who are looking to work with an outstanding team; or for Newly Qualified Teachers. As a lead partner in the East Midlands Teacher Training Partnership, and an early adopter of the Early Career Framework, we are well placed to support teachers at the start of their career.
Applications must be made on an EMET application form which you can download from the East Midlands Education Trust website
On the application form, please focus on a detailed 'supporting statement' taking into account the person specification and indicating why you would be the best person for us to recruit to this position.
If you have any questions or would like an informal discussion about the post or a tour of the school, please contact Wendy Bellamy our Leadership Support Team Leader via 0115 9387000 or hr@kimberleyschool.co.uk
The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the person specification in order to be offered the post, will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK. The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Safeguarding checks will be undertaken during the recruitment process and this may include online searches.
We welcome applications regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion.
The closing date for receipt of applications is 9am on Monday 10th March 2025.
Interview date to be confirmed
