This is an exciting opportunity to join a large and innovative team within County Durham and Darlington, with approximately 4500 deliveries per year across both sites., We are looking to recruit a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. This is a 12 month post initially. We are looking for someone with generalist skills but there will be opportunity and support to further develop skills through working closely with colleagues in specialist areas. ATSMs in Gynaecological Oncology, Benign Abdominal Surgery, and Hysteroscopy are particularly welcomed, in addition to Advanced Labour Ward Practice.
The post will involve a weekly Rapid Access Clinic working alongside gynaecology oncology colleagues, together with provision of antenatal and general gynaecology clinics. There will be opportunity for gynaecology theatre sessions either under supervision or independently dependent on the post-holders level of experience. Daytime Labour Ward and acute gynaecology cover are via a hot-week, currently 1:12.
The post holder will participate in the Tier 3 non-resident rota, also 1:12., Weekly Rapid Access Clinic working alongside gynaecology oncology colleagues. General antenatal clinic. General gynaecology clinic or more specialist clinic or sessions negotiable dependent on interests and experience, and needs of the department (eg Vulval clinic, menstrual disorders clinic, TOP service, Caesarean section list, etc). Gynaecology theatre sessions, either independent or supervised, dependent on level of experience and wishes. Labour ward and acute gynaecology hot week 1:12.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
