The role As a LAFT Aircraft Technician, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. We have delivered the LAFT and LAFT2 (Light Aircraft Flying Task) contracts to the MoD for over 20 years for the provision, management and maintenance of our fleet of 91 Grob 115E aircraft utilised for training for the next generation of pilots. Day-to-day, you'll report to the Site Operations Manager and Licenced Aircraft Engineer (LAE) to support all aircraft engineering activities, as listed below: Line and depth maintenance ensuring aircraft airworthiness ensuring passenger safety Scheduling servicing and corrective maintenance of all other engineering related activities and services on company aircraft and ground support equipment, including Check A maintenance Assist in the ground movement of aircraft via moving vehicles Complete 'all' documentation in accordance with current legislation and Company procedure General duties include but not limited to aircraft cleaning, housekeeping, flight-line operations such as daily aircraft preparation, e.g. see-in / see-off, fuel and oil replenishment This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time. Also, this position involves travel/working across a range of internal and customer sites, as a requirement of the role (voluntary and very occasional). This role is full time, 40 hours per week and is based on site at Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) based in Yeovilton, Somerset. Essential experience of the LAFT Aircraft Technician Experience of the Aviation industry this can include work through college or university placements Ability to demonstrate practical and theoretical standards required Holds a UK Driving Licence Aircraft engineering experience Knowledge of MOD Engineering procedures/documentation is desirable Sound understanding of partnering and alliance between customer and contract is desirable Qualifications for the LAFT Aircraft Technician Recognised Aircraft Apprenticeship, Military experience or NVQ level 3 or equivalent Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain BPSS security clearance for this role.
