It’s an exciting period of change at NFU Mutual. To ensure these changes improve experiences for our people, customers, and business, one of the first key areas of change is the Change division itself. We’re reshaping how we manage change, introducing an enterprise-led approach and restructuring the division to provide the strategic leadership that will support the whole business through major transformation. It’s about setting the strategic business agenda, establishing how we approach change in the future, and supporting senior stakeholders across NFU Mutual through fundamental changes. And you can play a key role.
About the role
As a member of the NFUM Group Change leadership team, you’ll oversee Enterprise portfolio delivery to ensure change is delivered effectively across our business, focusing on preventing risk, delivering value, and meeting customer needs. You’ll manage a wide-ranging and evolving portfolio of complex, high-value change projects and programmes. This will involve building strong working relationships with senior stakeholders to promote Group Change’s brand, create opportunities, and foster understanding across NFU Mutual and beyond.
You’ll lead, develop, and implement a scalable enterprise-led approach to delivering change that focuses on cross-programme dependencies and risks, business case management, and maximising benefits. This includes building enterprise change delivery communities of practice to ensure we always take an efficient, effective, and consistent approach to change delivery by sharing experiences and learning lessons. You’ll also manage capacity, demand, headcounts, and budgets to ensure we have the capability to deliver projects and programmes smoothly and efficiently. You will be responsible for managing, coaching, and motivating a team of project and programme managers so they're equipped to deliver change effectively across the business.
Our genuinely supportive, collaborative culture gives you the opportunity to make your mark quickly, with plenty of scope to develop your career further. This includes a healthy work-life balance that works for you, with great facilities when you want to be in an office environment, and support to work up to 60% of your hours from home.
About you
You’ll be a proven strategic leader, with a change delivery and change management or PMO background and strong relevant technical capability. With a record of successfully delivering a high-value, complex enterprise-led change portfolio of programmes, underpinned by best practices and continuous improvement, you'll be used to managing multiple stakeholders in a professional, collaborative way that’s based on mutual respect and understanding.
This means you’ll need the ability to develop long-term strategies and communicate them effectively to people at all levels. You’ll also be a confident decision-maker and persuasive negotiator, with the ability to get people onside so necessary change can happen. As a motivational leader, capable of inspiring your team, you’ll ensure projects and programmes are delivered consistently and successfully to benefit our people, business, and members.
To succeed in this role, you must also have:
1. PRINCE2, Scaled Agile, Agile Scrum, or equivalent qualification
2. Managing Successful Programmes qualification

Working at NFU Mutual
We’re one of the UK’s leading general insurance and financial services companies. For over 110 years we’ve put our customers at the heart of everything we do. Our people are just as important to us. We pride ourselves on being “a great place to work” and we're one of only 60 companies across the globe to receive a Gallup Exceptional Workplace 2024 award, and one of only 2 companies to receive the award for the ninth consecutive year. We were also named in the LinkedIn Top 25 Companies List 2021, the Glassdoor Best Places to Work UK List 2023 and 2024, and were recognised as a certified UK Top Employer by the Top Employers Institute in 2023 and 2024.
We offer a supportive culture where we empower and inspire our people to perform, offer them opportunities to grow, and recognise and reward their contribution. Our people are proud to work for a company that respects them and their communities, and they trust us to be financially sustainable, so we are successful now and in the future.
We are a leading provider of General Insurance and Financial Services. From our strong farming roots, we’ve grown to become a UK-wide organisation, turning over £1 billion annually. Yet success hasn’t gone to our heads. We’re proud to remain completely customer-focused, down-to-earth, and committed to the rural communities we’ve grown from.
Our ethos - of trust, respect, and personal service - lies at the heart of all we do and has seen us build an enviable reputation for exceptional member loyalty. Though we’ve been in business for over 110 years, we have big ambitions for the future. And that’s why we’re looking for talented people to join our growing organisation. Talented people like you.
