We are seeking a meticulous and ambitious Data Migration Associate to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail and a passion for data quality. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data throughout the migration process, from cleansing and transforming to testing and post-migration validation. You'll bring expertise in Microsoft Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools like Power BI to tackle complex challenges and streamline our data operations. What does this role look like?
The role will report to the Head of Data and the key areas of responsibility are as follows:
1. Responsible for cleansing the data to remove duplicates, incomplete data, or inconsistencies.
2. Extracting the data from the source system, applying any necessary transformations or formatting, and preparing it for loading into the target system. This may involve data conversion, standardisation, or normalisation.
3. Conduct thorough testing to verify the accuracy and integrity of the migrated data. This includes comparing the source and target data sets to ensure consistency and identify and resolve discrepancies.
4. Verify the accuracy and completeness of the migrated data by running validation tests and comparing the data with the original data.
5. Perform data normalisation to ensure that the data is consistent across all systems.
6. Maintain detailed documentation of the migration process, including the migration plan, data mappings, transformation rules, test results, and any issues encountered during the migration.
7. Assist in the post-migration activities, including data validation, troubleshooting any data-related issues, and providing support to end-users.
Technical competencies/Skillsets desired:
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
* Working knowledge of Databases/SQL
* Some experience using data visualisation tools such as PowerBI or Tableau
* High attention to detail and able to notice patterns and trends in data
* Thrives on problem solving and able to suggest solutions
* Can manage tasks simultaneously, be involved in exciting new projects whilst delivering work on time
* Can communicate effectively and be comfortable communicating ideas to people at all levels across the firm
* Can distil a complex problem into a workable solution and implement it
* Willing to continuously learn and implement new skills and understand the latest technologies
The successful candidate will have:
* Experience working in a similar role
* A BSC in Computer Science or an equivalent analytical/numerate subject
* Be an ambitious tech advocate who is keen to take advantage of abundant opportunities for personal achievement and to accelerate their career within a leading wealth management firm
* Commercial hands-on experience of using SQL to solve complex business requirements
* Experience of using data visualisation tools such as Power BI
* Be passionate about collaboration and influencing peers and junior engineers
* Excellent communication skills and be comfortable communicating complex ideas to people at all levels across our business
Knowledge of the following will be advantageous:
* Azure data factory
* Power Apps
Where will I be working?
We are looking for someone to be based out of our Whiteley or Bath office, and offer hybrid working, which includes 2 days in the office, with the remainder at home. We’re incredibly flexible about when and how you work: we don’t want anyone to be prevented from coming to work for Saltus as a result of the working pattern that they’re looking for.
