An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands for a BANK Motor Vehicle Workshop Technician to support the effective practical running of the learning experience by ensuring all students have access to appropriate equipment and materials and that the learning environment is Safe, Positive and Well-ordered.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintain, order and replenish supplies for the work area
2. Set up, repair and monitor location of all equipment and manage workshops and classrooms assigned to area
3. Prepare resources for teaching purposes which could include photocopying
4. Ensure students are complying with health and safety and notify relevant staff where concerns arise
5. Monitor safety of students in practical workshop environment. Aware of health and safety and PPE
6. General maintenance of vehicles, lifts, tools and equipment in workshops, on a daily or weekly basis as appropriate
7. Regular cleaning and lubrication of tools and equipment as specified by manufacturer’s schedules
8. Accompanying students and teachers on external visits
9. Carry out routine and non-routine maintenance activities associated with the work area
10. Carry out other duties as required by the specific curriculum area
11. Comply with all codes of good practice associated with the work area (for example, Safeguarding, financial regulations etc)
12. Demonstrate specialist equipment to students
13. Carry out health and safety risk and COSHH assessments
14. Be aware of and follow College policies and procedures, with particular attention to health and safety, safeguarding, risk management, equality and diversity, quality and our values and behaviours. You will be required to attend training as necessary.
PERSON SPECIFICATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
1. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a vocationally relevant area
2. 2 years’ industry experience in specialist area
3. Ability to understand UK Health and safety rules
4. Flexible, customer-focused attitude
5. Remains calm under pressure
6. Forward thinking and able to prioritise/manage workload effectively
7. Appreciates value of resources and seeks cost savings where possible
8. Maintains accurate record keeping
9. Able to work unsupervised at times
10. Experience of working with students/trainees of all ages
11. Relevant/practical experience related to subject area
12. Experience of delivering training to students/trainees
