Community Centre Assistant needed in Cambridge, £12.50ph PAYE - Reference: 5260479
To assist Centre Supervisors with the efficient and effective running of the community centres and assist with event tasks including room set-ups, stewarding, cleaning, administration tasks, technical support, bar, or catering work.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare, clear and clean for use, areas of the building during opening hours; moving and setting up furniture; clearing and cleaning the building, setting-up and operating the heating, lighting and sound equipment and ensuring its proper use; undertaking room servicing and providing cover for bar and catering services as required.
2. Carry out tasks as assigned promptly, effectively, and pro-actively, seeking guidance or support from a Centre Manager, Centre Supervisor or Senior Supervisor as needed.
3. Follow policy and procedures for all community centres, including: buildings, contents, site security, evacuation, accidents, incidents, and damage, and take appropriate action to report and escalate issues.
4. Liaise with Centre users to support the events and activities. Ensuring a high standard of customer care and health and safety is always maintained.
5. Communicate effectively with all clients, customers, and colleagues, and provide a friendly, efficient, customer-facing service for users of the Centre.
6. Assist with stocktaking and report low supplies of stock, sundries, and equipment.
7. Deal with routine telephone enquiries and provide other administrative support as required.
8. Assist with displays and promotional materials to help promote the Centre and the activities held at the Centre.
9. Complete and keep up to date relevant training for all aspects of the Centre assistant role.
10. Cover other duties and operational tasks to ensure the smooth and safe running of services across Centres and be prepared to work flexibly across Centres and at evenings and weekends.
11. To support keyholders as needed and to be able to operate intruder and fire alarms.
12. Carry out any other duties as required by your line manager from time to time in accordance with the grading of the post.
This is a part-time role on a temporary contract basis.
