As the first point of contact for many of our visitors, you will be working within a bustling atmosphere as part of a busy visitor facing team at Mount Stewart. The role of Service Assistant, supporting safe management of our car parks and setting up for events, plays a core part in providing high standards of service for our visitors.

The Hours: This role is an hourly paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We’d give you as much notice of this as possible. Flexible hours available which includes weekend shifts (to be discussed at interview).
Salary: £12.25 per hour. The advertised salary for this role will be in effect from 1st April.
Contract: Fixed Term Contract until 14-Jan-2026
Potential start date: w/c 14 April 2025 (team inductions)

The Visitor Experience Team works closely with colleagues across the property to shape the quality and content of our visitor offer.
Mount Stewart, our pay-for-entry property within the portfolio, located on the Ards Peninsula on the outskirts of Newtownards, boasts a large neo-classical house, containing a collection of international significance, surrounded by celebrated formal gardens and a historic demesne with miles of walking trails, running through woods and farmland.
Last year we welcomed over 200,000 visitors and have ambitions to grow those numbers through the development of our visitor offer and infrastructure.

The East down Team is also responsible for caring for over 5,000 hectares of coast and countryside in and around the Strangford Lough and the Ards Peninsula, including a wealth of wildlife unrivalled in Europe, with a variety of habitats found between seabed and shoreline. It is one of only three designated Marine Nature Reserves in the United Kingdom.

What you'll be doing
Visitors are a vital part of what we do. As a Service Assistant at Mount Stewart, it is your role to ensure that the visitor’s expectations are met to the highest standard, setting them up for an amazing experience for the rest of the day.
You will be well informed about upcoming events and programmes, responsible for answering queries and making sure visitors can find everything they need for their visit. You’ll tell them about the amazing work we do and what their money is funding.
This role will be based within the Visitor Experience Team, you will be car parking during events and peak days as well as supporting event day set-up and delivery. You may also be required to work in various areas of the property as required.
The required hours are predominantly during weekends, bank holidays and school holiday periods, there may also be occasional evening shifts and early starts; therefore, flexibility is required.
