At Tata Steel’s Shotton site, we’re looking for a Services Mechanical Team Leader to ensure our auxiliary plant and infrastructure operate at peak performance. What You’ll Do As the Services Mechanical Team Leader, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining and improving site infrastructure and mechanical systems. You’ll lead a skilled team, ensuring all maintenance activities align with safety and quality standards. Your work will directly support our manufacturing operations, keeping the plant running smoothly and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include: Overseeing day-to-day maintenance and repair activities for mechanical systems and infrastructure. Leading your team to uphold the highest safety standards and championing proactive safety improvements. Managing spares, resources, and planning to ensure the availability and reliability of equipment. Collaborating with contractors and internal teams to deliver timely, high-quality work. Driving continuous improvement initiatives and developing maintenance strategies for plant infrastructure. This role also includes contributing to training and mentoring apprentices, ensuring your team is well-equipped to meet current and future challenges. What You’ll Need to Succeed We’re looking for a driven, skilled leader with a strong mechanical background and a commitment to excellence. Essential Requirements: Time-served mechanical craftsperson with relevant plant experience, ideally in a steel or construction-related industry. Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team. Solid understanding of safety and environmental procedures. Proven ability to plan and manage resources effectively, ensuring tasks are completed to high standards. Proficiency with SAP or similar systems for planning and maintenance management. Desirable Skills and Experience: Experience with crane maintenance, PCM tools, and laser alignment. Familiarity with statutory standards, such as LOLER, PUWER, and COSHH. Experience supervising contractors and managing external service providers.
