Job Title: Functional Skills Tutor
Overview:
The support with the delivery of Functional Skills in Math and English to enable the successful achievement of all Apprentices in their Functional Skills Qualifications.
To provide support in key administration tasks around the delivery of functional skills.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Be responsible for the assessment, effective support and accurate funding claims for Apprentices with Functional Skills English and Math requirements.
2. Champion the importance of the support with delivery colleagues, and provide training where appropriate to Skills Coaches.
3. Deliver innovative, differentiated teaching and learning, which support lower level ability and provide stretch and challenge for more able learners, ensuring all individuals achieve their full potential.
4. Ensure all learners in caseload undertake effective initial and diagnostic assessment as appropriate to identify current level and learning needs thus informing their Individual Training Plan.
5. Support in identifying specific educational requirements that would enhance the learner’s ability to achieve their learning aims to their full potential and ensure referrals are made and necessary support is provided.
6. Support all learners in caseload requiring Math and/or English qualifications to achieve these ideally within the first 4 months of their programme, in line with the identified Functional Skills pathways utilising the appropriate resources.
7. Plan and manage your time effectively to ensure all learners in caseload receive support via individual one to one, group sessions and use of appropriate software and guidance to support self-directed learning.
8. Conduct assessment via question and answer, activities, mock assessment, blended learning, practice papers etc. in preparation for exams.
9. Provide timely, specific and constructive individual feedback and support to learners in caseload to ensure their ongoing progression and achievement.
10. Ensure all learners in caseload requiring Math and/or English qualifications are entered for their exams when working at the required standard as is appropriate to their individual progress and related Apprenticeship qualification.
11. Liaise with Compliance and Data Manager to ensure learners are registered for exams in line with awarding body requirements.
12. Track progress of all learners in caseload, planning and implementing recovery actions to support learners who are at risk or require additional support.
13. Escalate any at risk learners in caseload and liaise with Curriculum and Delivery Manager to support these learners to progress and achieve.
14. Ensure prior learning is checked before the learners commence learning to include a PLR check and initial assessment results are appropriate.
15. Ensure any exemptions are uploaded onto Onefile.
16. Ensure the schedules reflect the systems to include calendars and book exams with the awarding organisation where necessary.
17. Attend regular team meetings and moderation/benchmarking meetings.
18. Ensure the safety of self, other employees and learners in accordance with the safeguarding policy.
19. Ensure that equality and diversity are promoted and embedded within the Functional Skills curriculum, and if required, confidently challenge and develop tolerance to difference.
20. Exemplify British Values at all times and refer all Prevent related concerns to the Safe-Guarding Officer in line with your responsibilities as a teaching professional under the Prevent Duty.
21. Manage own continued professional development through undertaking relevant training and sharing of best practice.
22. Maintain a professional approach at all times.
23. Carry out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.

Qualifications
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* At least 3 years proven experience teaching English and Math Functional skills with proven success record
