Outline of the role
As a Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for monitoring the control of costs, maximising revenue, minimising liabilities, and maintaining the required standard of financial recording on a variety of projects. Provide commercial support to the delivery teams with the design and construction of the projects in line with time, cost, quality, carbon, HSE and customer.
Project Outline
The A52 Project by Farrans involves the comprehensive upgrading and improvement of a key transportation corridor, aiming to enhance traffic flow, safety, and connectivity for the surrounding communities.
As a Quantity Surveyor your duties will include:
1. Achieve the appropriate commercial result for projects through the provision of accurate financial reporting.
2. Build and maintain working relationships with the supply chain and clients.
3. Manager subcontractor supplier accounts, financially and contractually. Monitor subcontractors against the programme. Negotiate final accounts.
4. Place supply chain orders in accordance with the procurement schedule.
5. Complete measurements and valuations of work executed, ensuring that they meet the conditions of the contract.
6. Ensure payments to Sub Contractors and Supplier are made to the terms and work in progress cash targets.
7. Ensure that Farrans Construction is compliant with all contractual requirements.
8. Monitor project expenditure against budget.
9. Provide analysis of cost over-run and cost projections.
10. Exploring opportunities to maximise value and minimise cost.
11. Liaise with clients on commercial issues, including agreement of variations, claims and additional payments.
12. Identify legitimate contractual claim situations and prepare suitable and documentation to clients.
13. Strive for continuous improvement within the commercial process and your area of responsibility
14. Abide by all business compliance requirements in line with Company policies
Required Skills and Experience
15. Prior pre and post contract experience in a construction QS role working on major projects
16. Strong understanding of modern building techniques, plant and equipment and an appreciation of logistical needs/issues
17. Strong understanding of construction contract conditions
18. Appreciations of the impact of cost in the completion of a programme and development of a construction solutions
19. Educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management or equivalent qualification
20. Full Driving License
21. Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and database software
