We have an exciting opportunity for a registered Pharmacy Technician with Hospital Pharmacy experience and a keen interest in utilising technology in the provision of Pharmacy Services.
You will be responsible for managing the ward Topping Up service and the receipt and supply functions of the Distribution area. The post holder must be able to develop the service in line with best practice. This is an opportunity to develop line management experience as you will be responsible for the recruitment and development of a team of assistants.
We are looking for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to become the “Trouble-shooter” for the Omnicell Intelligent Storage system and Pharmacy Robot; experience would be a benefit but not essential.
Applicants must have the NVQ Pharmacy Services Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) and BTEC or equivalent certificate and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Main duties of the job
* To maintain Standard Operating Procedures for Topping Up, the Automated Dispensing Robot and Intelligent Storage Systems.
* To assist with stock control and carry out investigations to resolve any discrepancies.
* Participate in the dispensary related duty rota.
* To cover for the Deputy Team Leader Dispensary if needed.
* To be responsible for adding new products and barcodes to the system.
* To be responsible for recording and investigating system errors reported by users and to provide prompt and appropriate support as required.
* To liaise with the ward pharmacist and lead nurse with regard to the installation of intelligent storage on wards and departments.
* To provide and manage an efficient pharmacy topping up service to intensive care units, theatres, wards and departments in the Trust.
* To support the Purchasing and Homecare team Manager with the day-to-day running of the Distribution.
* To be responsible for the weekly top-up rota ensuring that the workload is evenly spread amongst the team and to adjust the rota accordingly for Bank Holidays.
