The Children's Safeguarding Team share that passion. We offer a Safeguarding service for children from birth to 18yrs, providing guidance, supervision & training to all staff at UHSussex.
Daily duties will involve working to manage safeguarding concerns & referrals, advocating for vulnerable children in contact with the Trust. You will need to collaborate with local Safeguarding Partners to ensure the best possible outcomes for these children. You will be actively involved in the planning & implementation of safeguarding training. You will support the delivery of safeguarding supervision to the MDT and also receive regular supervision by senior members of the Safeguarding Team.
You can expect to be involved in practice improvement projects pertinent to Safeguarding Children within the Trust, such as Newsletters and 'Case of The Month'. You will also be a 'Neglect Champion' within the Trust.
This role is based cross-site, working between Worthing & St Richards Hospitals to meet the needs of the service. This will support development of your safeguarding knowledge & experience through management of different Safeguarding caseloads and establishing relationships with the wider MDT on both sites.

Main duties of the job
1. To communicate effectively with children and families
2. To have responsibility for the scrutiny of all paediatric attendances to the hospital urgent care settings (Emergency Department and wards)
3. To undertake liaison with health care professionals and partner agencies and maintain effective processes
4. To escalate concerns in accordance with the trust and multi-agency guidance
5. To participate in the organisation and delivery of safeguarding training for clinical and non-clinical staff across the Trust.
6. To be knowledgeable of the NMC code of conduct and to be accountable for practice in accordance with that code, along with the Roles and Competencies for Health Care Staff (2019)
7. To support the Named Nurse and wider team members in issues relating to safeguarding children.
8. To foster and maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders in relation to safeguarding children.
