About the role We are excited to announce an opportunity for an Automation Project Engineer EMEA to join our newly established European Engineering Hub. In this role, you will be a key player in leading automation projects across the UK and Europe. This position is crucial for advancing our automation journey and delivering exceptional automation services. About You Experienced Leader: You have a background in Control Engineering within manufacturing sectors such as Chemical, Oil & Gas, Pharma, or FMCG. Project Management: You have experience in managing large scale automation projects from design through to commissioning, ensuring projects meet standards for safety, cost, and quality. Health & Safety Advocate: You ensure adherence to safe working practices, maintain high standards, and comply with all procedures related to Major Accident Hazards. This role requires occasional travel across the EMEA region. Key Responsibilities Depending on experience: Direct and manage the full lifecycle of Distributed Control System (DCS) projects across the EMEA region. This includes initial design, detailed engineering, implementation, and commissioning phases. Oversee all phases of automation projects from conception through commissioning. You will ensure these projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet all technical and safety standards. Lead both internal and external teams, allocating resources effectively to ensure projects are completed within predefined timelines and budgets. Serve as the technical authority on all aspects of the projects, ensuring that all technical deliverables adhere to industry standards and best practices. Collaborate closely with site leadership, engineering teams, and vendors to ensure seamless project execution and to foster strong, productive relationships. Monitor project milestones and deliverables, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements, and maintaining the highest quality of work. Occasional travel for commissioning or other project related activities may be required. What you will need to apply: Degree qualified in Electrical/Control Engineering, or equivalent. Proven track record of leading control-focused engineering projects. Deep understanding of Distributed Control Systems (DCS). Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage teams at all levels. Expertise in control philosophy for modern process plants and a strong understanding of production manufacturing processes and instrumentation. Desirable: Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity frameworks and standards, such as IEC 62443, OG86, and NIS. Familiarity of Emerson DeltaV Distributed Control Systems (DCS). Experience working with S88 Batch standard or IEC61512. Knowledge of SIS and IEC61511.
