Who we need
Reporting to the Director of IT & Fraud, we are looking for a Senior Fraud Analyst. In this role, you will work with a team dedicated to combating fraud, analyzing fraud journeys and managing risks for loyalty redemptions. Your goal will be to minimize fraud exposure and support our business operations and growth. Your expertise will directly contribute to maintaining the trust and security of our extensive member base, safeguarding one of Canada’s most prominent loyalty programs.
This is a hybrid role, working 5 days over a 2-week period in the office and the availability to work weekends on a rotational basis.

As our new Senior Fraud Analyst, you will:
1. Investigate fraud. You will monitor and analyze suspicious activities, providing timely responses to fraud alerts. You will review fraud-reported adjustments to identify anomalies requiring further investigation. You will analyze suspicious activity to prevent potential fraud and address escalated cases reported by members. You will work closely with departments such as Cybersecurity, Legal, and Member Services, as well as with partner fraud departments, to resolve fraud issues efficiently and in a timely manner.
2. Manage fraud detection systems. You will manage and maintain fraud detection and prevention systems. You will collaborate with the security team to enhance fraud prevention measures, assessing the performance of established rules and filters. You will reconfigure these rules and filters to reduce false-positive rates and proactively identify suspicious activity.
3. Lead initiatives. You will leverage your subject matter expertise to lead technical initiatives aimed at optimizing fraud detection and prevention processes. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will evaluate current systems and workflows, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements. You will lead and integrate innovative technologies to streamline fraud monitoring and response efforts. By aligning technical solutions with business goals, you will enhance operational efficiency while minimizing fraud risks.
4. Implement automation. You will leverage automation in day-to-day fraud monitoring and within the fraud prevention platform to streamline investigative workflows, complete reporting, and enhance fraud monitoring capabilities.
5. Optimize policies and procedures. You will contribute to the ongoing improvement of the fraud operational playbook. You will ensure the playbook aligns with all impacted parties and adheres to established IT security policies and procedures.
You bring:
1. The experience. You have an operational background in investigations in either the anti-money laundering or fraud space. You have experience with fraud detection platforms, rules configuration, and system management. Ideally, you are a Certified Fraud Examiner (ACFE) or similar. You are committed to fighting fraud with the most powerful and intelligent tools available, and stay current on the best AML and Fraud prevention and detection practices.
2. The analytical drive. You are innovative, curious and driven to find root causes, resolve problems, and prevent recurring issues. You have a growth mindset and work to advance your knowledge of the latest operational and technical challenges. You have demonstrable fact-finding expertise and a clear ability to analyze and interpret trends in investigative findings to generate storytelling and reporting for executives.
3. The customer focus. You prioritize customer experience, operating with a sense of urgency and empathy. You can independently manage multiple ongoing assignments under tight timelines and navigate the demands of stakeholders. You can translate technical concepts for a nontechnical audience and maintain professional communication and patience. You value collaborating with individuals who bring diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
4. The technical skills. You are proficient in fraud monitoring, case management tools, Python, and SQL for gathering, cleaning, organizing, and analyzing structured and unstructured data. You have experience with ticketing systems such as Zendesk or ServiceNow to manage workflows and tasks.
