We are looking to recruit a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical Fitter) to join our Maintenance Team, working Days shift - Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm.
Position Overview:
The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer reports to the Operations Director and is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, servicing and repair of stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
The successful candidate must have the ability to manage their own workload and work independently, alongside the Electrical Maintenance Engineer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Ensure that Health and Safety Legislation and Company policies are being complied with at all times.
* Carrying out mechanical repairs on all plant and equipment.
* Root cause analysis on mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment across the site.
* Ability to troubleshoot and rectify faults and problems.
* Assist the Maintenance Manager in maximising Plant availability through the implementation of planned and preventative maintenance schemes.
* Ability to Install, test, maintain, troubleshoot and repair power trains, gear boxes, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, motors, pumps/pipework and other mechanical equipment.
* Operate machine tools such as manual lathes and welders (Mig/Mma) to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery.
* Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools.
* To ensure that all work is logged on the companies planned maintenance system.
* Providing technical support to production personnel.
* Coach and develop Apprentices and direct them to ensure successful task completion.
* Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
* Time Served Apprentice with recognised qualification in a mechanical discipline.
* Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
* Practical experience with power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and programmable logic controls
* Previously worked in a metals/engineering industry
* Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) experience (ideal/not essential)
* FLT / MEWPS Licence (ideal/not essential)
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
