Position: Area Fleet Maintenance Manager

Travel: Regular travel is required to sites across each region.
This is a fantastic time to join the Royal Mail Fleet team as we progress on our journey towards net zero, targeting an all-electric delivery fleet by 2035. This is a huge undertaking with over 50,000 vehicles and trailer assets, from buying and selling vehicles to providing maintenance and accident repairs, managing fuel and supplier contracts.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Fleet Maintenance, you will:
1. Be accountable for running a fleet of workshops (circa 30 workshops and 8 direct reports).
2. Play a critical role in delivering our Fleet vision to make cultural and behavioral change amongst our maintenance teams, ensuring they make commercial decisions on a daily basis and operate efficiently.
3. Be accountable for compliance with both legal and RM safety policies and meet safety targets.
4. Be accountable for delivering maintenance services and for optimizing cost performance & forecasting through the use of resource planning tools and resourcing to workload.
5. Be responsible for optimizing the efficiency of Fleet Workshops to meet or exceed industry standard performance levels.
6. Provide effective coaching, engagement, and tenacious communication to support and develop the regional Fleet Workshop teams through the cultural and performance transformation required to exceed customer expectation.
About You
To be eligible for the role, you must hold at least an IMI Level 3 qualification in light or heavy vehicle maintenance and hold a full UK driving licence. You will have a proven track record of management of a team over multiple sites (or one large site). You can demonstrate experience of change management through coaching of teams. It would be desirable for you to have knowledge of compliance requirements for vehicles and road transport legislation and have worked with trade unions, but this is not essential.
