Are you a senior member of a calibration team with ISO 17025 experience and yearning for a new challenge with career progression to management?
Our UK Calibration team requires a proactive and experienced engineer to join their busy Maidstone facility. The successful candidate should be performing ISO 17025 calibrations in their current role and have a desire to progress and become a key influencer in a commercial lab with 3 nationwide calibration centres.
Requirements and Skills:
1. Crystal Reports design for reports and certificates.
2. Use of Transmille software and migration to Metcal & Indysoft for UKAS work.
3. CAD Drawing for procedures.
4. Understanding specifications and datasheets for writing procedures.
5. ISO understanding and the implications of decision rules and contract review prior to work being carried out.
6. Understanding of Test Uncertainty Ratios and suitability to decide if a calibration can be carried out based on the current schedule of Accreditation.
7. Able to be interviewed and confident technically to be assessed by UKAS prior to approval to run the laboratory.
8. Demonstrate calibration of precision devices, such as calibrators, long scale DMMs, and resistors working confidently to 1ppm and less.
9. Demonstrate understanding of M3003 and construction and maintenance of budgets for CMC on schedules.
10. Expanding the existing scope and thinking outside the box.
11. Periodic onsite calibrations and group site visits.
Qualifications:
1. Measurement experience in the DC and LF area, preferably with pressure and temperature accredited knowledge, gained as Head of Laboratory or Deputy.
2. Educated to degree, HND level or similar.
3. Completed training courses available from UKAS or other accredited institutions, including Laboratory Management, Laboratory Internal Audit, Uncertainty of Measurement M3003, and Assessor Training.
Responsibilities:
1. Overall responsibility for running the UKAS Laboratory, Technical & Quality.
2. Recruit calibration and quality staff as necessary when workload increases.
3. Review and authorize certificates of calibration.
4. Maintain the Quality System and Quality Manual.
5. Produce and update measurement budgets ensuring CMC are kept up to date and inform UKAS of any deviations.
6. Apply for additions to the Scope of Accreditation.
7. Maintain measurement procedures.
8. Review staff capabilities through audit standards.
9. Identify staff training needs and advise QM to arrange.
10. Carry out internal training with staff as necessary.
11. Approval of software packages used for UKAS work, including validation of calibration procedures and auto uncertainty calculators.
12. Liaise directly with UKAS and customers as necessary.
13. Review annual reviews, internal audits, and surveillance visits, applying any required improvement actions.
14. Constantly review risks and opportunities for the business.
