We are looking for a Senior Radiographer to join the team to work in our purpose-built Interventional and Cardiac suite at Colchester Hospital. There is also an opportunity to rotate into CT. There is a permanent and a fixed term post until 31/03/2026. Internal applicants currently employed by ESNEFT will be offered on a secondment basis only.
Our combined Interventional Radiology & Cardiac Angiography (IRCA) unit provides a 24/7 service for interventional radiology. Colchester is a Vascular centre which accepts patients from across the region for urgent, life-saving procedures such as EVAR, FEVAR, embolization, thrombolysis and angioplasty. The dedicated Cardiac Catheterisation lab provides cardiology services such as diagnostic coronary angiography and pacemaker implants. The IRCA department carries out over 3000 procedures per annum.
We require a Radiographer to provide effective, high quality individualised care to patients and relatives/carers and to contribute to the continuing development of radiology practice.
This post is 37.5 hours per week, which consists of 4 longer days with an off day during the week, which may be subject to change upon needs of the service.
You will be required to lead and ensure high standards of patient care at all times, in line with Trust policies and guidelines. In addition, you will be an effective leader of the team and wider multi-professional healthcare team.
You will provide high quality images to our radiologists, cardiologists and vascular surgeons.
1. Participate in the vascular on-call service (45 minute call out time).
2. Deputise for area lead radiographer taking responsibility of managing the area on a day to day basis in their absence.
3. Act as point of contact for general imaging enquiries acting appropriately, sensitively and professionally to ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times, seeking more senior support if appropriate.
4. Communicate decisions and outcomes from enquiries to the relevant senior staff member.
5. Support undertaking regular review of systems and implement changes and audit of these to ensure maximum efficiency as required.
6. Liaise with peers of all professional groups, radiologists, other medical officers and technical staff in the delivery of high quality patient care.
