The Community Mental Health Rehabilitation Service is a new and developing service that works with people with complex severe and ensuring mental illness (psychotic illnesses) and their families within their local communities. The service will provide specialist assessment, treatment and support to stabilise people's symptoms and help them gain/regain their skills and confidence to live successfully in the community - adopting a team approach to care delivery.
The service has strong working relationships with other services both internally and externally, and is co-located with other mental health teams. We promote regular CPD opportunities both internally and externally.
The Community Mental Health Rehabilitation Service is looking to recruit a Band 6 Occupational Therapist who has experience working with people with complex severe and enduring mental illnesses (i.e. complex psychosis). Who has experience of person-centred care planning, involving service users and carers, and has experience in assessing and managing complex and dynamic risk
MPFT will offer a welcome bonus of 10% of first year salary- at 50% on commencement of employment and 50% following 12 months employment.
Main duties of the job
* Undertake clinical assessments to establish the person's needs, goals and risks and generate a formulation based care plan with all involved.
* There will be a balance between generic and profession specific work
* You will complete specialist OT-specific assessments to guide and support the multi-disciplinary and person centred care and treatment plans
* Deliver recovery focussed and evidence based interventions, in accordance with an agreed care plan, to an identified group of people
* Manage a caseload of individuals with complex severe and enduring mental illness
* Complete and contribute to robust risk assessments and risk management plans - deliver and promote positive risk taking
* Participate in the development of the service - assist in ensuring that the aims and objectives of the service are fulfilled and to identify factors which may inhibit these from being achieved.
* Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and have an ability to build positive multidisciplinary team relationships, and work collaboratively with external agencies, patients and their families/carers.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Dip COT or degree in Occupational Therapy plus post qualification knowledge and experience to post graduate diploma level as outlined below
* RCOT Registered
* Health And Care Professions Council Registered Occupational Therapist
Experience
* Evidence of post registration experience working with adults with complex severe and enduring mental health needs
* Experience of working in community setting and making decisions autonomously
* Experience of providing assessment and intervention that is recovery focussed
* Experience of working with people who have difficulty in engaging with services and have complex mental health needs
* Experience of integrating care delivery across multi-disciplinary/multi-agency teams
* Experience of leading/contributing to Care Review Process
* Experience and ability to carry out clinical audit
Skills, Knowledge & Attributes
* Knowledge of the RCOT Mental Health Strategy
* Knowledge of the Mental Health Rehabilitation NICE Guidelines and Long Term Plan
* Understanding of the principles of the Care Review Process and Community Care Act
* Demonstrate understanding of Equality and Anti-discriminatory practice
* Knowledge of other relevant local and national documents/drivers that affect practice
* Knowledge and experience of occupational therapy models, interventions, specialist assessments and outcome measures
