Outdoor Learning 1:1 Teaching Assistant - South Brent
Location: South Brent
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Pay: £90 - £100
Contract: Long-term, with temp-to-perm opportunities at the school's discretion
Are you passionate about outdoor learning and supporting children with additional needs? We are looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a unique Outdoor School in South Brent, where education is rooted in nature and hands-on experiences. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves working outdoors and wants to make a real difference in a child's learning journey.
As an Outdoor Learning 1:1 TA, you will:
1. Provide tailored, 1:1 support to a student with additional needs, helping them engage with outdoor-based learning activities.
2. Work closely with teachers and SEN specialists to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
3. Support the student in hands-on, nature-based activities such as forest school sessions, gardening, and outdoor exploration.
4. Encourage social, emotional, and academic development in an alternative learning environment.
5. Help manage behaviour positively using de-escalation techniques and structured support.
6. Promote independence, confidence, and resilience in learning through outdoor experiences.
7. Assist with personal care and mobility support if required.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Experience working with children with SEN in a school, care, or community setting.
2. A passion for outdoor learning and an understanding of its benefits for child development.
3. A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach to supporting individual needs.
4. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a supportive team.
5. A proactive mindset with the ability to think creatively in an outdoor learning environment.
6. A good level of physical fitness, as the role involves working in an active, outdoor setting.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Forest School training or experience in outdoor education.
2. Understanding of Autism, ADHD, or SEMH needs.
3. Experience with behaviour management strategies such as Team Teach or MAPA.
