Working hours: 35 hours per week Interview Date: Week commencing 17th March 2025 (Date to be confirmed) To supervise & co-ordinate the effective operation of the Charity Shop & kitchen within the Café/Coffee Shop with responsibility for supervising employees and volunteers working to ensure a high standard of customer service. Key Responsibilities: Ensure good quality food, presentation and services are provided to Café customers as well as for special events or functions to provide a high level of customer service. Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner, to ascertain their levels of satisfaction with the service, and to find ways to improve as necessary. Take a lead role in the preparation, cooking and serving of quality, nutritional meals and refreshments to customers to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction – Plan menus taking into account dietary needs, choice and customer opinion to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction Help the Corps Officer maintain food supplies and equipment in liaison with suppliers to ensure best value for money whilst working within agreed budgets and minimise food wastage – this will require the use of a car to purchase and collect fresh items, as well as placing on-line orders for delivery. Open and close the premises, ensuring it is safe for volunteers and customers alike, as well as overseeing the hygienic clean down of the kitchen and cashing up of the till. The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate: Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness and food hygiene in the kitchen and Café/ Coffee shop to comply with health and safety standards, policies and legislation and provide training to team members where necessary. Assist the Corps Officer in the management and supervision of employees and volunteers to carry out the effective running of the service, in accordance with policies and procedures, financial recording, quality of service & understanding and supporting the needs and abilities of volunteers, maintaining contact details and training records in accordance with GDPR requirements. Essential Criteria: Level 2 Food & Hygiene certificate or the willingness to obtain this. Full driving licence & access to a car. Up to date knowledge and understanding of food hygiene requirements pertaining to food preparation, cooking and storage including BFH and COSHH requirements. Experience of working at a supervisory level within a commercial food provision retail environment. Full training on Salvation Army systems will be provided.
