This role has a starting salary of £40,296 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week. This is an 18-month fixed term contract opportunity. This is an exciting opportunity to join our award-winning Trading Standards service as a Senior Trading Standards Officer. Our service enforces and advises on a wide range of Trading Standards legislation to protect consumers and ensure legitimate businesses can thrive. You will be involved in a wide range of issues including fraud, product safety, lettings agents, food and other Trading Standards matters. You will seek to tackle illegal trading practices by conducting thorough and timely investigations covering the breadth of Trading Standards legislation and through implementing disruptions to stop criminality. You will work with our prevention team to protect the most vulnerable residents and will assist and encourage Businesses to comply with relevant legislation Day to day duties of the Senior Trading Standards Officer includes: Investigating complex complaints and enquiries spanning the full breadth of Trading Standards Legislation, including food, weights and measures Complying with all legislation and policies that relate to Trading Standards Carrying out detailed research and analysis for projects Contributing to the prevention agenda by providing residents and businesses with advice and information through a variety of channels Working effectively with internal and external partners Shortlisting Criteria To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following: A Trading Standards professional qualification including food, weights and measures Detailed knowledge and experience of Trading Standards criminal investigations Detailed knowledge of the legislative framework that Trading Standards must adhere to An ability to implement effective disruptions to stop criminality Knowledge and experience of working effectively with partners Excellent communication skills The willingness and ability to travel to meet the demands of the role.
