Purpose
To arrange for the movement of goods from TWS to designated destinations/contracted time. To track and co-ordinate the TWS driver/trucks with goods in transit. Manage and communicate live information. To maintain the operations plan and delivery schedule continually monitoring TWS drivers and trucks. Updating drivers and customers with up to date alerts in delays or changes to the schedule or shortfalls. Ensure that trucks and trailers are in a serviceable condition and report any issues to maintenance.
Role and Responsibilities
1. Plan multi temp transport operations manually, ensuring all logistical details are documented.
2. Provide the communication link between customers and drivers.
3. Supervise and manage driver workloads.
4. Ensure compliance with tachograph regulations and monitor your driver's daily activities in-line with the Working Time Directive and Driving hours.
5. Plan operations day 1 for day 2 and beyond.
6. Keep up to date with transport issues and deal with changes to the daily schedule.
7. Pre-brief and de-brief drivers on their daily runs throughout the day.
8. A clean, full C+E licence would be an advantage.
Role Requirements
1. Transport route planning experience.
2. Previous experience of working in a General Haulage, specifically chilled distribution would be ideal.
3. Experience of working within a busy transport office.
4. Have a dynamic approach to solve resource and planning resolution/modifications.
5. ICT literate.
6. Have a competent understanding of Large Goods Vehicles (weights, dimensions and terminology).
7. Proficient in the use of tachographs and TMS (Transport Management Systems).
8. A good geographic knowledge.
9. A proactive approach to continual professional development.
10. An excellent team player, able to work on own initiative and make decisions.
11. A strong work ethic with the ability to focus, while contributing to a collaborative and positive team dynamic.
12. An effective communicator.
13. Ability to question, challenge and improve upon existing processes.
