Position Overview: As a Rebuild Repair Engineer based in Finning’s Component Rebuild Centre (CRC), you will be tasked with stripping down, inspecting, rebuilding, and testing engines and transmission systems and components. It will be your role to ensure that refurbishments are carried out to Finning standards and customer requirements.

As a Finning Engineer you will receive:

Working within an industry-leading organisation at Finning, and the largest CAT dealership in the UK and Ireland, your role as Rebuild Repair Engineer will involve carrying out reconditioning and maintenance on Caterpillar products and supporting 2nd life overhauls.
Major Job Functions:
1. Undertake a detailed inspection of the equipment to confirm or expand on any initial field inspection report.
2. Carry out standard diagnosis tests on components for accurate cost evaluations.
3. Produce a comprehensive list of parts and materials required for proposed machine preparation work.
4. Undertake overhaul, repair, or refurbishment work on the machine.
5. Inspect and test completed machines to ensure expected performance levels.

Knowledge:
1. Deep understanding of general service manuals and computerised Service Information System (SIS) from the OEM.
2. Practical knowledge of tooling and specialised equipment for repairs.
3. Knowledge of diesel engines and components.
4. Electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical fitting knowledge.
Accountability:
Adhere to agreed job times and ensure the highest quality of finished machines. Maintain availability of machines ready to hire and presentation of machine stock. Ensure positive feedback and nil customer complaints. Maintain a tidy and safe working area.
Education and Experience:
1. Background in plant machinery or similar industries (e.g., HGV, agriculture).
2. Experience with assembly and disassembly of diesel engines and components.
3. Apprentice trained or minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar industry.
4. A licence to drive reach trucks is required.
5. Practical experience in operating construction equipment and mechanical fitting work on large-scale machines.
