Our clinical Laboratories department are thrilled to receive new investment from the Board which is being directly invested within the Chemistry teams.
With progress comes opportunity - starting with Pre-Specialist Biomedical Scientist.
As one of the pre-specialist biomedical scientists within the team, you will be trained and supported in the analysis, technical validation, interpretive decisions, and reporting of samples to achieve the objectives of efficient and effective patient care.
The post holder will be required to undertake their responsibilities within any of the sections of the Department and at laboratory supported facilities across UHB including 'point of care' or similar near patient services.
Consideration will be given to those with a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science or equivalent, ideally with a completed IBMS generic portfolio and HCPC registration.
Main duties of the job
Our team receives over half a million requests annually and our laboratories are ISO 15189 and IBMS accredited with MHRA approval.
Each member of our Laboratories team has a direct impact on the patients who rely on us. Your role will see you safely handle, use and dispose of biological samples including blood, urine, faeces, CSF and other body fluids/samples and hazardous and/or radioactive chemicals.
You will be motivated to ensure compliance with good laboratory practice, quality assurance procedures in accordance with the standards of UKAS ISO 15189: 2022/23 and in line with Trust and departmental health and safety policies.
Supported by the wider team, you will ensure all results are reported within the agreed turnaround time and report any non-compliance.
In return, you can expect to be fully supported in your development contract with regular 1:1's, exposure to training modules and material to ensure your success.
