SEN Learning Mentor - Walsall

First For Education is looking for a full-time Learning Support Practitioner to work 1:1 with a bright and energetic Year 7 student with Autism. This role is ideal for someone who can build a positive relationship, engage him in activities he enjoys, and support his emotional and behavioural needs.
The position is full-time, to start from April 22nd.
What you'll be doing as an SEN Learning Mentor:
- Work 1:1 to provide structured support and help him settle into a full-time routine.
- Build a positive and trusting relationship through shared interests.
- Develop strategies to engage him in learning and manage behaviour effectively.
- Work alongside the SENCO and the school team to create a support plan.
- Remain calm and adaptable when dealing with challenging situations.
About the Student:
- A bright Year 7 student with high-functioning Autism.
- Has a strong interest in gaming, Minecraft, and coding.
- Can display challenging behaviour, including aggression, and has had three suspensions.
- Currently on a part-time timetable, with plans to gradually increase hours.
- Needs a consistent and engaging mentor to support his development.
Contract Details:
- Location - Fareham
- Position - SEN Learning Mentor
- Contract or position start date - Immediately
- Full time/part time - Full-time - Temporary to Permanent
- Minimum rate of pay - £90 per day ( Inclusive of 12.07% holiday pay)
- Hours - 8.15 am to 3.30 pm, term time only.
