Established over 20 years ago, the firm has a proven track record of success, having invested in over 53 businesses. Our investment portfolio is highly diversified, and includes private equity (PE) and venture capital (VC) investments, equities and bond portfolio, real estate and externally managed funds, ensuring a well-rounded and strategic approach. The firm is supported by a close-knit team of seven outstanding professionals, many of whom have been with us for over 10+ years.
As part of our planned expansion in 2025, we are seeking an experienced finance individual to join our team, presenting a unique opportunity to work with a prestigious and well-established team.
The Role
The role is a critical part of the team, being in charge of fundamental finance matters but combining this with the responsibility of overseeing and supporting specific investments.
Your responsibilities will include:
Financial management:
* Primary responsibility for the financial control, management reporting, tax and treasury obligations across the core Hamilton Bradshaw business
* Drive key improvements to systems, processes and reporting to help aid key business objectives
Portfolio management:
* Tracking specific current investments and reporting on their trading results and investment performance
* Attending monthly meetings and working with the teams responsible for the day-to-day operations of our investments, supporting them in achieving our common objectives
* Preparing monthly management accounts for certain portfolio companies
Evaluation of new opportunities:
* Assessing new investment opportunities and their financial viability
* Conducting thorough financial / commercial due diligence and detailed analysis of potential opportunities
About You
We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:
* Chartered (or equivalent) accountant qualification from a top 10 accounting firm
* 3+ years PQE experience, ideally with a role in industry where you have held a similar finance manager / financial controller role
* Strong financial literacy and a deep understanding of driving financial performance within an business / investment or through evaluating a new prospective one
* Ability to participate in monthly management meetings and provide valuable financial insights to portfolio companies and drive change
* Experience in preparation of annual statutory accounts and dealing with ongoing tax reporting requirements (payroll, VAT, corporation tax)
* Prior experience in using and managing accounting products (including Xero) and demonstrable experience in preparing high-quality reports and presentations
