Job summary We are looking for an experienced, motivated nurse with a passion for Nutrition and Patient Safety to join our Group Fundamental's of Care Service. You will be employed by St Georges University Hospital however the role itself is based at both Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and you will be flexibly working across both sites. You will work with colleagues to shape the nursing expertise so that patients and service users receive excellent care in line with national guidelines. There is an opportunity for you to gain skills in the specialty of Nutrition with development so that you are able to work towards being a Clinical Nurse Specialist. The post-holder will work with the (gesh) Clinical Nurse Specialist - Nutrition and other members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide a specialist Nutrition service (encompassing oral, enteral and parenteral nutrition) to patients requiring nutritional support, carers and health care professionals. This role involves patient assessment, clinical reasoning, support and training of ward staff, patients and carers, clinical audit and implementation of innovation within the field of Nutrition. You will need experience working in acute and /or community nursing. You will work within a team so excellent team working is an essential asset. This job involves travel between our two acute hospital sites and a free hospital shuttle bus is provided. Main duties of the job Whilst the CNS has oversight, the Developmental CNS will be required to undertake autonomously, a comprehensive holistic assessment of patients utilising a variety of advanced clinical skills, while acting as a role model, in line with your code of conduct:- To support all aspects of the Nutrition service across the Trust with the CNS and otherteam members. Provide information and advice to healthcare professionals about your service using your clinical judgement. Act as an information resource on your service issues in line with your role. Assist with the provision and delivery of education and training (both formal and informal) about your service, to all levels of staff and disciplines. To highlight or escalate issues around effectiveness and efficiency. To manage any equipment required or specific to the Nutrition service. To assist and help with clinical audit and research in collaboration with CNS in order to develop your service where appropriate.
