The Role: The University of Cambridge is seeking a knowledgeable and committed individual to join the University's Environmental Sustainability Team as the Carbon Assistant. The Environmental Sustainability Team provides strategic direction, expert advice and operational support to enable the University to achieve its environmental sustainability commitments. This role will develop our data to improve insights into the University's scope 3 carbon emissions. The post holder will be responsible for cleaning and analysing existing data, expanding use of tools and exploring solutions to establish a more complete understanding of the carbon impacts associated with the University's supply chain. Engaging with the Assistant Carbon Manager, this role will also support the project goals of reducing emissions from business flights, by identifying the parameters to set a baseline and track the University Guidelines for Sustainable Business Travel's performance. The Carbon Assistant role provides a uniquely valuable opportunity for the successful applicant regarding professional development or future job prospects. The role holder will work closely with other members of the Carbon & Energy Team, wider Estates Division, Procurement Services and other divisions as required, to support other data development opportunities relating to tracking scope 3 carbon emissions reduction. Focus for additional work in this area can be adapted, based on the successful candidate's interest and experience. About you: In order to succeed in this role, you will join us with A passion for sustainability and some knowledge of climate and environmental issues. Experience of working with data including experience or an interest in working with scope 3 carbon emission data and associated methodologies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and to liaise effectively with staff at all levels.
