We are now seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Youth Worker/Cover Supervisor to provide essential support across the school. About the Role: As a Youth Worker/Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in both pastoral care and classroom management. You will help support the emotional and social well-being of students while covering lessons in the absence of the regular teacher. This dual role is perfect for someone passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives while gaining hands-on experience in the classroom. Key Responsibilities: Youth Worker Responsibilities: Provide pastoral support and mentoring to students, promoting their personal and emotional well-being. Develop strong relationships with students, helping them overcome challenges in school and their personal lives. Work alongside the school’s pastoral team to deliver targeted interventions for students at risk of disengagement. Support the development of extracurricular activities, including clubs, workshops, and after-school programs. Act as a positive role model for students, promoting positive behaviour, attendance, and engagement in school life. Cover Supervisor Responsibilities: Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of the class teacher, following pre-set lesson plans. Ensure students remain on task and manage classroom behaviour according to school policies. Provide assistance to students as needed and report any issues to teaching staff or senior management. Assist with the supervision of students during break and lunchtimes, contributing to the general supervision and order of the school. Support teachers with administrative tasks, such as preparing resources or marking work, when not covering lessons. Essential Requirements: Previous experience working with young people in a school, youth work, or community setting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff. Confidence in managing student behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment. Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to step into a variety of roles within the school. A passion for helping young people overcome challenges and achieve their potential. Desirable: Experience working as a Cover Supervisor or in a classroom support role. Experience working with students with additional needs or from disadvantaged backgrounds. Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
