The Digital Services team at Velindre University NHS Trust are moving towards a new methodology for managing its digital systems and services, built around Product Teams and the Agile methodology. The Velindre Cancer Centre (VCC) is a specialist tertiary provider of specialist radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments, offering a vital lifeline to the patients of Wales. As part of its move to establish Product Teams to oversee the management of key VCC IT services, the Velindre University NHS Trust Digital Services team have a vacancy for a Product Manager, who will lead a small team of staff in the management of its Pharmacy IT services, including the ChemoCare software which underpins the management of patients receiving systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) treatments. This is the first such role within the Digital Services team - as such, we're looking for a dynamic individual who will help embed Agile ways of working and the Product Team approach within the team, setting an example ahead of the establishment of similar roles across other key digital systems and services within the Trust. As a key point of contact between staff and the Digital Services team, you will be a strong negotiator, an empathetic leader and have a commitment to quality.

Main duties of the job
A Product Manager will lead a multi-disciplinary team for one of the specified products within the Digital Services portfolio. At this role level, you will:
* Lead the Product Team, taking overall responsibility for the quality and success of your product
* Manage a product through its full lifecycle, including discovery, alpha, beta and live states
* Be the main point of contact within the organisation for your product, engaging with relevant stakeholders to confirm requirements
* Maintain the high-level road map for your product
* Line manage and support the professional development of other members of the Product Team, creating synergy between the Digital Services teams
* Be as interested in managing people as managing products

Qualifications
* Postgraduate qualification or equivalent relevant experience, preferably within a digital / IT subject and/or healthcare subject area
* Evidence of continuous professional development through their career
* ITIL Foundation
* ITIL Specialist
* In depth understanding of the product needs of Velindre University NHS Trust and its Divisions
Experience
* Successful implementation of digital-focused business change and improvements
* Experience in supervising a multidisciplinary team of digital staff
* Understanding of NHS / Healthcare digital requirements
* Excellent understanding of translating business / functional requirements into specialist technical specifications and complex Digital systems
* Experience in taking a lead role in product development
* Experience of working in an NHS / Healthcare or Public Sector environment
Skills
* Able to communicate with staff up to a senior level on complex business or clinical processes
* Collaborate with other Product Managers, to share best practice, lessons learned etc
* Able to organise and manage own work effectively, whilst ensuring the same organisation is applied to the team
